Watching TAR with Wannietta - part 12.9

Okay, um, my TV broke. Not much better - they know that you'd curl up in a fetal ball and suffer torturous withdrawal and that you'd just buy a new one before an hour passed by.

Okay, I'm just a gargantuan git and we're going to pretend that I haven't missed 2 episodes of TAR. 'Nuff said. and of all the drek that you can stream & download why can't I find TAR?!?

Japan - freakin' A!! I wonder if I'd have time to find a yarn shop or two?
Poor Nick had to really fold himself into that cab!
I wonder if Ron knows Japanese better than Christina?
I guess Nick isn't a big believer in "fair play" (unless he's playing Johnny Fairplay style) or in karma. Fantasizing about kneecapping the competition? Desperation isn't a good sign.

I love that TK & Rachel are sticking it out and not falling all apart even though they know the gig is up. I'm sad to see them go.
Okay ... it's cool. They're seriously the underdogs but I think that they can do it! They just made a really bad airline choice this leg.

In with the New

There are many ways that you can be complimented. A simple "Thank you", a nice card and wearing/using the knitted item are all fairly common. Then there's the someone who loves it so much that they wear out the sweater (or socks or mitts) that you've knit for them because it was their absolute favourite. I think that sleeping in the item the 1^st night that they get it is a tie for 1^st place!! Do you think that she loves the hat?



Okay - here they are in the light (or twilight actually) of day.

Beach Fog Thorpe has only 2 garter ridges (instead of the called-for 4) before starting on the earflaps.

The November Muse Thorpe has the 4 ridges and fits a bit big on her so she wears it back on her head a bit, but she loves it anyway.

I did have her try them on before I started finishing them and she didn't want me to change either one! I did a crab stitch edging instead of single crochet - just a personal preference. I think that crab stitch makes for a more substantial and visually interesting edging. I also went with twisted ropes instead of braids - again with me and my personal preferences! She wanted extra pompoms but they're a pain in the ass to make so I only did them for the brown one.

Not a bad summary of a year. I know that if I lay off my online euchre habit and don't spend quite so much time Raveling I can get a lot more done! Fiona's Inspired Fair Isle Knits came out along with Knitting Patterns for Dummies.
This year I'm especially looking forward to Joanne Yordanou's Twelve Months of Knitting and Elise's book - as yet untitled. I'm sure that there will also be a lot of excellent projects for some of my favourite designers and clients; I can't wait to find out what they are!

It's seriously hard to pick out your favourite spring/summer sweaters when it freezing and snowy and you're swaddled in sweaters and blankets, but it's a great collection and certainly gives you something to look forward to! Thorpe Interrupted

Okay, last night I got distracted.


But today I am just sick. My glands are swollen, my muscle aches ache, my sinuses are no longer the empty, don't-remember-they-exist cavities that they should be, my throat is scratchy or worse, dry so that I have to drink or suck on Halls (sugar-free black cherry) constantly to not cough, my eyelids are heavy so that even though I'm not sleepy-tired I have to close my eyes, things are spinny and, the absolute worst is that, except for a few lucid hours, I've only been able to hold my knitting like a security blanket.
So while Amanda doesn't have a finished Thorpe hat, she does have 2 partially finished ones. I'm knitting the main part of the hats before I go into the contrast edging, pompoms and cords.

I'm on my sick couch and will be heading off to bed momentarily. NyQuil (liquiCaps) and a night cap should have me off into a dreamless & recuperative torpor soon.
