New Toy

I have been finding it more and more of a challenge to read my Kobo Glo at night. Maybe I'm getting old , or maybe because I'm used to my phone dimming and changing to a warmer low light, but the bright blue Glo of the Kobo is noticeably disturbing my sleep. So I did my research and I went and bought an Aura One today.
It has a warmer light conducive to night reading, its waterproof, and it also allows for direct downloads from the library without a sideways device! I have already borrowed a book!!
I loaded it up and ordered a case from Amazon.

I have been keeping up with the Starting Point MKAL by Joji, but I've been at the back of the pack. I am enjoying the knitting of it, though I'm struggling slowly through another k/p tbl section at the mo.
Blogging app is being odd and won't let me right-justify pics ... it's annoying.

So that gets you caught up ... it's been slow in my life, but I like it like that.
I'll be getting a new project from Julie when she's back from TNNA, so I'm looking forward to that.
I've also been on a bit of a yarn-buying spree, so I'll update you on those when they arrive. I'm excited about those!!

New Adventure

My knitting game has been off the past few days. I've started training at the new Dairy Queen Angus.  A 5 minute walk to work is going to be awesome!!
Trying to adjust my sleep cycle back to a traditional day-walkers has been the challenge. I wake up in the wee hours and can't get back to sleep. I've never been one to get up when I can't sleep; I lay in bed and read on my Kobo. Upside is I've been getting a lot of reading in and am off to a great start on my 50 book pledge. I would really like to upgrade to the new Kobo Aura One  especially for the reduced blue light option, but it's not an inexpensive tool. So I will read my Kobo Glo to its last word, postponing a new investment as long as possible.
I did my first swatch on 3.5mm interchangeable circular Marblz and it is a bit loose, stitch and row, even before blocking. I'm swatching now on 3.25mm lace Addis  It's measuring much better. I'm hoping to block them out tonight.
I just went to take a picture of them and the 2nd swatch is done too! Clearly my life is a bit of a blur ... I'll block them out before work today.

My socks have stalled just past the heel.
I do miss the knitting time that I had at ALP, but every job has trade offs. I think that in balance, Dairy Queen will be a forward move and I'm excited for this new challenge!

Craig is happy too. He has been supportive of my job options and choices, but it is easier to be on a similar work schedule. I'll be working evenings and weekends again, but short of one of us winning a large lottery, it's never going to be perfect.
He surprised me with a singe rose when he picked me up after training on Saturday.
I love when he does this; it's so sweet; not over the top, just sentimental enough.
The puppies greeted me thusly Friday morning:
I know!!! Fortunately they just had at the pom pond; the hat itself is undamaged. I say "they", but I know that it was Petey. And he showed no remorse of shame at all, despite my clear displeasure. Those eyes though; I can't stay cross at him for long.

Finally!!!

It took over 5 months (yes, that's a horrible new record for me) but there were things - messing up cables at the beginning, circular needles, not sure if the fuzziness of the alpaca was right for the pattern (my issue - Beth loved it from the get-go), seasonal insanity at work and issues with the sleeve length and wrist size that hampered smooth and expeditious progress. Good things come to those who wait though and Beth has a cozy sweater perfect for the cold days that still plague Ontario!!

I have been working on a few small projects for Caroline of Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts.
Lovely Leaves Fingerless Gloves

Orenburg Rhapsody
The Honeycomb Mobius Cowl is on the needles. Fun and quick designs paired with lovely yarn that is so rich with colour. Check her out!!

Lee has set up a fish tank at his.
Jake loves it and helped to pick out a fish for me (I couldn't make the fishing trip); Lenny (a red-tailed shark) is hiding in there somewhere!

I love my Kobo Glo and finally bought some "accessories" for it.I'm actually returning the hardcover Clockwork Orange; it doesn't stay closed with the Glo is inside.

Hopefully Spring is truly on the way after this last blast from Old Man Winter. There was ice on all the surfaces but fortunately the roads were salted and not a Yes, I *could* go out and walk/run in the winter but I don't do cold.
I can't wait to be able to get out and get fit for the baseball season!
