Back on the Wagon

I am back on the keto wagon. I have gotten to a point where I’m not happy with my body and have decided to do something about it. Given that my schedule is so irregular and I just don’t make the time for exercise (I chose knitting), a change in the way I eat it is.

I have done keto before, and it works for me and is a sustainable way of eating for me. It takes a mental discipline - as does any change to ones way of eating - and I am finally there. Yes, working at Dairy Queen certainly challenges my commitment and discipline on the daily hourly, but I’m 4 weeks in and my resolve remains unbroken.

I am averaging about 2 lbs/week, which is a good sustainable loss. I didn’t take measurements before starting, so I’m going to have to rely on my unreliable sense of how clothes fit to determine inches lost.

My friend Nicole who hosts a Survivor night that I attend has been super supportive and has cooked keto dinner the last two weeks! I’m making a keto Zappa Toscana for this weeks Survivor night. Ive made it before and Craig and I are both fans.

Tonight I made a delicious crustless spinach quiche; the leftovers will be perfect for breakfast.

Craig loved the quiche, but he’s rather easily impressed with my cooking. 2 years in and he still likes my cooking - not a bad sign. I liked it, and I’m a whole lot pickier.
The cover is a waxed cotton wrap from Labeille  They are local and I love these covers as a replacement for plastic wrap.
I gave one to my friend Joan and she sent me a link to make my own. Once I’m done my current deadline I’ll definitely be giving it a go. If it’s a success, I’ll share my story and link. If it’s less than successful, I’ll share the story.

Still Almost Done

So the knitting is done and the ends are sewn in. But it’s not blocked. It’s a massive piece and i just need to clear a space on the floor and just do it.

I’ve also started on a new project that I can’t share online at the mo, but I am quite busy on my week of holidays knitting away! Chica is a most excellent little swatch-blocking assisstant - lol!!
Petey has a new favourite guard-dog position on the cedar chest. I keep waiting for him to actually fall asleep and have his chin fall off the window ledge!

I have managed to get two little cuts while I’ve been off. Normally I’m nicking myself on the daily at Dairy Queen - stainless steel is a devious and cruel material. IDK how I’ve done it here at home, but it’s annoying.

The kids were up the other week and I remembered to have a picture taken! Craig was hamming up the photographer role, giving Amanda & I a shared moment.
They are both doing well in their lives, making better decisions, and being responsible adults. I am so proud of them both!! Remember when they were tiny?? Where does the time go?

I’m going to have to knit quickly to get back to publishable knitting content, but until then, I’ll have to share more of me and my life.

A demain mes amis!!

Baby Reveal

So the kids came up last weekend (even though Kyle and I were still feeling poorly), and we had dinner and had the DQ gender reveal cake. Little Amin was at his maternal grandparents, so I didn’t get to meet him.

Have I mentioned how much I wanted a girl? If I had to guess, I’d guess boy. Mahsa looks so lovely, and just the way she’s carrying the wee Bean, that was my inclination. Though maybe I didn’t want to dare hope too much for a girl, so I was psyching up for a grandson.

So we went from this

to this
SQUEEEEEEEE!!! Wee little Ramina is due to bless our lives with her arrival on July 8th. I have so many little projects that I want to start knitting, but I still have deadline knitting and a secular job. I also want to not neglect my Nana obligations to Amin. He’s gonna need yarny hugs too 🤗  I need a time turner!!!

I am almost done the back section of my Veronika Cardigan  This is great incentive to really power through tonight and get a lot of knitting done on my day off tomorrow! It’s so big now that pictures are pretty useless at conveying its shape and size.

See? It looks like a lap throw 🙄 I’m still pleased with the blending of the skeins.

Ok ... more knitting than waking hours in a day, so I best get back to it!!
