Staycation Day 3 & 5

I skipped my best day of all!! I visited with my grand babies on Wednesday. Ramina was being a bit grumpy - just a tiny nap then fighting sleep like a trooper. I brought all my Nana skills to bear. She would snuggle in to me, deeply relaxed as I walked and bounced and hummed, but she wouldn’t leave for the Land of Nod. But my heart was filled with baby snuggles and that is priceless!! I also got a fair bit knit on Veronica’s socks. She chose grey as her colour, and as soon as she said that, my mind went immediately to my stash. I finally used one of the skeins of Lorna’s Laces 50 Skeins of Grey collection. This one is Christian. It will be perfect!

Yesterday I knit the neck and front bands on my Throwback  I decided to add buttonholes as it is unlikely that I will wear it just open all the time. I’m imagining leather covered “grandpa’s sweater” buttons, but that may change when I start trying buttons on.
I picked up the neckband with the pickup seam on the inside (traditional) and again with it on the outside (as instructed) and decided that I did prefer it showing. I love having time to experiment!

Notice my helper? He got a bit enthusiastic with his helping (which was, in fact, not helping) so I had to do a little fixing yesterday as well.

There’s a bit of bagging below the yoke at the back - I’m hoping that resolves with blocking.

Overall I’m chuffed with the colours and fit. It’s been awhile since I’ve knit an actual sweater that’s a bit fitted for myself, so this has been fun!
I’m hoping to get the last sleeve knit today and get the sweater blocked tonight.

A small step

It’s been a busy week at work, but I have managed to make some small progress on my most recent WIP.

I am pleased with my mod on Throwback  especially since it saved me the grief of knitting, then *gasp* purling back with three colours. The last increase round is a bit bubbly on the surface; I’m hoping that blocking will sort that out.

I’ve just separated for the armholes and I’m on the nice relaxing stockinette straightaway - maybe I’ll work on that after this posts.

I finished knitting the heel flap, then realized that I hadn’t changed to the contrasting heel colour. D’oh!! So after ripping that back, I’ve made so visible progress on my Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock socks from Turtlepurl.

Or maybe I’ll work on these ...

I had a lovely visit with my grand babies this afternoon. Mina’s little Entrechat for her perfectly, and the colour is so complementary. She is so close to making her first steps; there was a camera in her almost every time she was standing. These children make me feel so much love.

Or maybe Amin’s blanket that I have promised for his birthday in 2 months.

Or, or, or ... I really do need to finish a thing or two! But you know as well as I do that I’m just not happy enough unless I have too much to do!

Baby Reveal

So the kids came up last weekend (even though Kyle and I were still feeling poorly), and we had dinner and had the DQ gender reveal cake. Little Amin was at his maternal grandparents, so I didn’t get to meet him.

Have I mentioned how much I wanted a girl? If I had to guess, I’d guess boy. Mahsa looks so lovely, and just the way she’s carrying the wee Bean, that was my inclination. Though maybe I didn’t want to dare hope too much for a girl, so I was psyching up for a grandson.

So we went from this

to this
SQUEEEEEEEE!!! Wee little Ramina is due to bless our lives with her arrival on July 8th. I have so many little projects that I want to start knitting, but I still have deadline knitting and a secular job. I also want to not neglect my Nana obligations to Amin. He’s gonna need yarny hugs too 🤗  I need a time turner!!!

I am almost done the back section of my Veronika Cardigan  This is great incentive to really power through tonight and get a lot of knitting done on my day off tomorrow! It’s so big now that pictures are pretty useless at conveying its shape and size.

See? It looks like a lap throw 🙄 I’m still pleased with the blending of the skeins.

Ok ... more knitting than waking hours in a day, so I best get back to it!!
