It's That Time of Year!!

Relay for Life is just around the corner and I need to ask for your support.

This is the 10th year that the DKC has had a team and we are planning all sorts of fun yarn related activities for children of all ages! We will of course still be knitting and spinning the night away - creating yarn and scarves filled with love & hope for Survivors.

All donations help to support research and the services provided by the Cdn Cancer Society. I don't know what I would have done without the support of their driving program!!

Frolicked

Helen and I arrived early to volunteer so it was a crazy early morning for me, leaving from Angus.
It was totally worth it!! I caught up with a lot of friends that I haven't seen in ever, helped raise money for the DKC Relay for Life team (totally excited to be on the team again/still and healthy enough to be able to participate), and did a wee bit of shopping.

The Woodlot. I bought a set of wood jewellery from them last year and was very impressed with the quality and customer service so it was a must-see again this year.

Salted Maple bracelet and earrings, cherry bracelet and a notebook.

From eweknit I bought a new project bag and a skein of a gorgeous green lace weight merino/silk yarn.

Raventwist was another new vendor from whom I bought a lovely brooch, stitch markers that will be turned into earrings and a cute little handmade Rune book necklace. The artist hand-bound the book and hand wrote the Runes and interpretations. I couldn't resist.

I also won some yarn from Sweet Georgia in the raffle!! I shared a skein of cashluxe with Helen and this is the other cashluxe fine skein and silk mist skein.

I kept going back to look at the Devin Wristlet in Pumpkin Spice at The Needle Emporium's booth. Yes, it came home with me. Along with the little Jemma Pouch, a gift from Helen.

And I remembered the Soak!!!

All in all a very good day.

Blaaahhhhhhgggg

I know that blog posts without pics are boring but there ya go. Forewarned is forearmed.

Weekends are totally starting to utterly suck. And in none of the ways that can be construed as good. Friday nights are my night without taking the Lorazepam which means that I pretty much don't sleep; if I'm luck I'll get a couple of hours around dawn. This means that I'm over tired on Saturday and my coping skills for anything are severely diminished. I also don't sleep well Saturday night because I'm so frelling over tired that even with the L. I can't get to sleep. Sunday is a Zombie day. If everyone just leaves me alone I can knit and get through the day without taking any prisoners or leaving behind casuaties.
I've taken to taking an extra L. an hour or so after the first one. I know ... I see the nice Dr. again on Tuesday & I'll be totally asking for something with the strength of a hammer upside the head. Fuck getting dependent, I just want to sleep!!! I'll join a program when this cancer-treatment roller coaster ends.

I totally lost track of time, space & TV ... The Amazing Race ran a leg without me. I'm back on track today - the support group at Gilda's is a welcome haven.

I'm heading down to the DKC meeting tomorrow night - Elise & Soak are going to be there, I'm really looking forward to it!! I'll be stopping by the Apple store at Yorkdale on my way down. I changed my email address in my iTunes account but it doesn't seem to sync with my iPhone which is a problem because I can't do anything with my iTunes account when I'm mobile.

I finished the first of a pair of socks for Elise; you'll just have to trust me since it's Top Secret. I've cast on straight away for the 2^nd one - I love knitting the 2^nd sock!! It goes so quickly for me since I just have to make it match the 1^st one.

Column Sock

Here is the 1^st Column sock from Knit One Below that I'm doing as a sample for Julie. It uses a ball of Landscape Caribbean & a ball of Mirage Caribbean - it showcases the striping of the Landscape but tempers that striping with the blending effect of the Mirage stripes.

Personally I need socks with gussets - this one fits a bit snug over the top of my ankle. The 2nd one I'm doing with a garter strip edge and will do a square heel on - since their samples I thought that it'd be cool to show a couple of different looks.

And I'm teaching at the DKC's Winter Workshop this year!! I love teaching/enabling knitters and I hope that you'll check out the classes, there's sure to be something interesting for everyone.
I'm thrilled that I got into Patrick's class on Japanese patterns - it's filling up fast!

Going on a Bus Trip

... and I don't even have to drive!!
I'm on the DKC Annual Bus Trip - this year we're headed to Shelridge Farm & Koigu. Do you think that if I dive into the Koigu wool naked and roll around it will deter the other knitters & I can have it all to myself?
I have missed having my copy of Knits from a Painter's Palette signed at the last Frolic and at the CSNF so I am going to bring it along this time.

We're supposed to be getting 10-15cm of snow tonight - what a super reason to curl up around a hot chocolate and knit myself to sleep!
