ai ai ai Caliente!!!

I found this fun little time-sucker test at Not An Artist.

Your Score: Cayenne Pepper

You scored 75% intoxication, 75% hotness, 75% complexity, and 25% craziness!

You are Cayenne!

You're known for your dry wit, saucy remarks, and ability to stimulate (take that however you want). People in hot climates like you for your ability to make them sweat, but you're also quite good for people all over the world. Just don't mention your cousin, deadly nightshade.

It's Here!!!

Kristi sent me my copy of her new book & the cutest little key chain!

I knit the Ruffled Cowl,
the kid's long sleeved T-shirt and the Fair Isle Scoop Neck Pullover. Amanda is excited because the child's sweater is for her! It's knit in Colinette Wigwam but with the long sleeves will still be a great sweater for winter. Kristi will be sending it along next month - I can't wait to see it again.

Cindy has pictures up of the Vivacious sweater that I knit for her - it looks amazing! Here's one -
.

The book launch for Fiona's Inspired Fair Isle Knits is Wednesday, October 24th at the Textile Museum of Canada - I'll be there, will you?

I've been working in the office again this week so the blog posts are going to be short & sweet.

You May Call Me "Empress"

kristina knows what a sucker I am for a blogthing!

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents,
beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home
decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

Same old Face, New Look?

The Old:

Julie didn't notice any difference - she was certain that I had these frames all along.
It took Kerwyn a week to notice.
The New:

I thought that they were dramatically different and that everyone would notice!
Note to self: Don't have
picture taken after you've been rushing around the house. And get Amanda a stool to stand on - those upward angles are not flattering!

Here's the Donna Karan Shetland Lace Pullover that is in the
VK Anniversary issue. I knit this about 16 years ago and I've had to repair it frequently the last couple of years. The Rowan cotton has really stood the test of time (and the test of my not-so-gentle wearings & washings) but it can't last forever. I'll absolutely be knitting another one - I this sweater!!

And I'm doing the "Honda Run" tomorrow so I'll be hanging out at Alterknit for a few hours!! I know, but someone's got to do it.

Another Blogthing that has me totally pegged! Except for that 'vow of silence' bit. I mean, I could take a vow of silence but keeping it would be another thing!
You Are Midnight

You are more than a little eccentric, and you're apt to keep very unusual habits.
Whether you're a nightowl, living in a commune, or taking a vow of silence - you like to experiment with your lifestyle.
Expressing your individuality is important to you, and you often lie awake in bed thinking about the world and your place in it.
You enjoy staying home, but that doesn't mean you're a hermit. You also appreciate quality time with family and close friends.

Done with Summer

Hang in there - I'm still tweaking the blog with Michelle's help. We'll either come up with what I want (which I know in my head but I can't verbalize) or we'll break Blogger in the attempt. I really want it to be interesting and visually appealing but still comfortable and a pleasure to read.

Once my ragweed allergies kick in mid- to late-August, I am totally done with summer and begin to pray fervently and frequently for frost. Hard frost and days in a
row of it. If the sneezing - which on the plus side has got to be an abdominal workout based on how sore my stomach muscles feel - wasn't disrupting enough, there's the endless nose blowing which only seems to make room for more nasal drippage. My eyes are runny & dry. Trust me, they are both simultaneously and itchy to boot. When I can't stop myself from rubbing them for another second I rub them with a relentless fervour. When the urge to rub abates I am left with swollen red eyes that leave me looking especially pitiful.
Then there's the scratchy, sore throat that neither scalding tea, ice cold ginger ale nor extra strength Halls can
soothe.
None of these tortures is as difficult to live with and endure as the exhaustion. I am utterly sapped of energy. It requires all of my wil
lpower to not crawl back into bed and just lay there, whimpering and feeling utterly hard done by. I'm not sleepy-tired, just exhausted and wanting to close my eyes.

Yes, I take allergy meds. I've tried various brands and formulations and they all offer a modicum of relief, but the above describes me on the medication. I tried the shots but I was so sensitive to them that it made little sense to continue. So for now massive amounts of caffeine, looming deadlines and familial obligations are keeping me going, but I really need that frost.

Amanda had clothes laid out in the living room
and kept switching and re-arranging them trying to settle on "the perfect" outfit for the first day of school.
I threw a wrench in the works when I finished her Stop & Go sweater Monday night and laid it on her chair. When I left for my bus run on Tuesday morning this was what she had decided to wear.
Of course, she changed her mind about 5 times over the next hour or so and didn't end up wearing the sweater - it was too warm. That's okay - we'll have a frost soon.

Rhonda did this and I'm weak and had to do it to! I just love Blogthings!!

You Are a Yellow Crayon

Your world is colored with happy, warm, fun colors.
You have a thoughtful and wise way about you. Some people might even consider you a genius.
Charming and eloquent, you are able to get people to do things your way.
While you seem spontaneous and free wheeling, you are calculating to the extreme.

Your color wheel opposite is purple. You both are charismatic leaders, but purple people act like you have no depth.

By the Power of ...

... you thought that I was going to say "Grayskull", didn't you?

Your Power Element is Earth

Your power color: yellow

Your energy: balancing

Your season: changing of seasons

Dedicated and responsible, you are a rock to your friends.
You are skilled at working out even the most difficult problems.
Low key and calm, you are happiest when you are around loved ones.
Ambitious and goal oriented, you have long term plans to be successful.

This one is kind of me - I have to question the "low key & calm" bit. Those who know me know that I'm rarely low key, and even when I'm calm it's only relative to my more normal state of energized.

You Are: 60% Dog, 40% Cat

You are a nice blend of cat and dog.
You're playful but not too needy. And you're friendly but careful.
And while you have your moody moments, you're too happy to stay upset for long.

B2B pics

I've uploaded the B2B pics that Amanda took - have a peek.

And you know that I'm a sucker for these things! (I'm not a Snickers eater, but the description seems apt).

Snickers

Nutty and gooey - you always satisfy.

And I'm afraid that we can't be friends anymore Sandra - I'm a middle finger and it just won't work out between us.
You Are the Middle Finger

A bit fragile and dependent on your friends, you're not nearly as hostile as you seem.
You are balanced, easy to get along with, and quite serious.
However, you can get angry and fed up with those around you. And you aren't afraid to show it!

You get along well with: The Index Finger

Stay away from: The Pinky

Waiting to Exhale

... without setting off a coughing fit. I'm still not feeling great but the antibiotics should be kicking in any minute now, so I'm taking the easy blog way out - a few blogthings. You know you love 'em!!

My blog is worth $14,113.50.
How much is your blog worth?

You Are From Venus

You love all forms of beauty. You love dressing up and anything luxurious.
A social butterfly, you're incredibly popular and a great host.
You're known for your fairness and affection. And as a frind to all.
Careful though! You're desire to please may make you too willing to conform.
Be yourself. Focus on what matters to you. You'll be all the more popular for it.

Which Turtle Will You Cheer On??

I think I was watching Daily Planet when I saw this story & followed the link. It's really cool. I'm cheering on Sundae.

Blogthings

I'm knitting away on the 2nd ChicKami & a Vancouver for Artisan Knitworks, but didn't take pictures so it's gonna be a Blogthing Day!! Let me know how yours turned out.
You May Be a Bit Borderline...

Your mood swings make a roller coaster look tame!
When you're up, you're a little bit crazy...
And when you're down, your whole world is crashing
Scary thing is, these moods can change by the minute!

It's Sandra's anniversary today, so I this one is for her.
You Are A Realistic Romantic

It's easy for you to get swept away by romance...
But you've done a pretty good job keeping perspective.
You're still taken in by love poems and sunsets
You just don't fall for every dreamy pick up line!

You Are 69% Addicted to the Internet

In your opinion, life without the internet is hardly worth living.
Could be, but you probably need a bit more fresh air and sunshine to think clearly.
Are You Addicted to the Internet?

Maybe ... but I don't think so. Fresh air can come in through an open window, ditto the sunshine. I get out 3 times a day to drive the bus. Online is the best place in the world!!!
