Slow start

I could feel the migraine, but I just couldn't summon up the energy to get out of bed at 3AM to take the Zomig.
I slept poorly all the way 'round. Migraine, codeine buzz, breakthrough pain in my uterus, waiting to hear from Amanda, (she had a bad but hard to narrow down pain so she went to ER. She's seems better, but a mother's love/concern is like that), and just my mind free associating.

I did have my codeine & T3's at my bedside, so I kept on top of that. Petey and Chica let me lay in until 11. I love these two; they really do take care of me. I took the Zomig after I fed my puppies, downed a cherry Coke, and we went for a bit of a stroll. Rx kicked in, and I've been knitting on the Secret Project today.

I finished Criminal Minds through Ssn 9 on TurboFlix, and started on Sons of Anarchy.

Hoovered, roasted the carrots that I bought at the market at the Steampunk festival yesterday (so sweet and delicious!!!), practiced my fluting.

Pains still significant so despite the itching, I've been taking an oxy with my meds. I just need to make it 11 more days and nights. I can do this. I've made it this far; I'm in the home stretch. A powerful reminder though how things happen the way we need them to sometimes.

I tried a tape highlighter for checking off where I am on my pattern. A regular highlighter won't work as I have the pattern in plastic sheets.

I'm going to try dry erase markers; I know it'll rub off after some shifting, but I don't need it *really* permanent, just as I'm working.

I have decided on a cowl for my Mountain Colors (it's weird typing colours without a "u", but I respect their spelling) Perspectives Twizzle gradient kit. The Filan Cowl.

Oh, and I forgot to show you my sock! I finished it in the road yesterday.

I am thrilled with it!! I love the flow of the green.

Chica has made a lot of progress with letting me pet her and have my feet on/around her while she's gnawing on a chewy.

So that's where I'm at. Feeling rough physically, but emotionally I've come a long way. I'm quite content with my life as it is - puppies, fibre endeavours, musical learning, friends galore. I'm still getting used to not having Lee to reach out to, I don't feel like it's the yawning void that it was. I have a lot going on for myself, and I let myself forget about that. Thank you all for reminding me and keeping me from losing sight of that.

To my friends. Sláinte!!

Fast ...

Kristina and Kelly were at In the Loop today - it was fantastic to meet them in person! (Sorry about catching you in a blink K.!!)
JJ - I completely coerced Kristina into coming. I'm
a mother - I know how to push the right buttons. Then, before I could stop her, Enabler Wannietta took over and befriended Evil Kristina!! Good Kristina and Just-Sitting-and-Knitting Wannietta were tied up and gagged (and not with the nice yarn either!!) and could only watch helplessly while those two did what they do best. Then they left - wicked laughter echoing in their wake - leaving us holding the silk.

Enabler Wannietta has told me that I needed this to knit a new Knotted Openwork Scarf to replace the one that I left at Julie's. It must have fallen out of my sleeve the last time that I was there. I was quite certain that I was just fine making do with my other scarves but EW obviously knows better. I know, but what kind of Enabler would she be if she just drove me out to pick up the scarf? Rolling Eyes

Elise also stopped by to discuss a new project and she brought gifts!!
I absolutely love the sock tubes - they were put to immediate use on my SIP. I've never broken a needle in a knitting bag but I have pulled needles out of stitches when getting socks out so this is a perfectly practical gift. The next one is 2 little beaded scissor fobs that I can knit!! One has a little kitten charm on the bottom - awwww! Thank You

... and not so fast.

How is it that a finite and quantifiable number, like, oh, I don't know, let's say 12½", can take longer than would seem normal or necessary? The good news is that I managed to break free of this temporal loop - let the seaming commence!!

The Next Generation

I was invited to speak to & knit with a knitting club at a Barrie school on Friday. Their mentor, Christina O'Neil, had contacted me through my blog and said that the kids had a good luck card and wanted to mail it to me. How could I not go see them & pick it up in person?!?

They had all just learned to knit about 5 weeks ago - Christina started them from casting on. She said that they all went home and did their best and practiced before the next weeks meeting. They were in varying stages of garter stitch scarves but they were all enthusiastic and persevering and loving it! The boys were especially keen and Matthew was talking about turning his scarf into an afghan. When I suggested that he could make several strips (his "scarf" was quite wide) and sew them together, rather than being daunted he got this "aha" look and said, "
That's Cool
".

They gave me a bouquet of tulips along with the card - tulips are my favourite flower and I really love this soft pink. Thanks guys - knit on!!!

Another Imaginary Friend

Joan & I finally got out to Cindy's. Ill health and busy schedules conspired against us but I'm nothing if not persistent!

Cindy was camera shy,
but she had no problem documenting her stash!! It's not that she's all that anal (but I am put to shame by her organizational skills!), but it's a farm house and some of God's little creatures are looking for shelter from the cold.

Mostly sock yarn.

Other yarn.

Operations Central.

More other yarn.

Knitting library.

She stroked my ego, "You're the best finisher that I know!", plied me yarn , homemade & hearty soup for lunch and the most comfortable chair in the house. How could I not finish a few baby sweaters for her?!? Don't tell Cindy, but I would've done it without the the foreplay!! I really do like seaming so it wasn't all that onerous of a chore. And if Nancy Wiseman can be conned into convinced to finish Cindy's sweaters, I'm in pretty good company! And Cindy's a friend and if you can't help a friend ...

Joan had a great time.
She browsed the library, fondled yarn (Cindy sent her home with some souvenirs too!) and knit the day away.
