Slow start

I could feel the migraine, but I just couldn't summon up the energy to get out of bed at 3AM to take the Zomig.
I slept poorly all the way 'round. Migraine, codeine buzz, breakthrough pain in my uterus, waiting to hear from Amanda, (she had a bad but hard to narrow down pain so she went to ER. She's seems better, but a mother's love/concern is like that), and just my mind free associating.

I did have my codeine & T3's at my bedside, so I kept on top of that. Petey and Chica let me lay in until 11. I love these two; they really do take care of me. I took the Zomig after I fed my puppies, downed a cherry Coke, and we went for a bit of a stroll. Rx kicked in, and I've been knitting on the Secret Project today.

I finished Criminal Minds through Ssn 9 on TurboFlix, and started on Sons of Anarchy.

Hoovered, roasted the carrots that I bought at the market at the Steampunk festival yesterday (so sweet and delicious!!!), practiced my fluting.

Pains still significant so despite the itching, I've been taking an oxy with my meds. I just need to make it 11 more days and nights. I can do this. I've made it this far; I'm in the home stretch. A powerful reminder though how things happen the way we need them to sometimes.

I tried a tape highlighter for checking off where I am on my pattern. A regular highlighter won't work as I have the pattern in plastic sheets.

I'm going to try dry erase markers; I know it'll rub off after some shifting, but I don't need it *really* permanent, just as I'm working.

I have decided on a cowl for my Mountain Colors (it's weird typing colours without a "u", but I respect their spelling) Perspectives Twizzle gradient kit. The Filan Cowl.

Oh, and I forgot to show you my sock! I finished it in the road yesterday.

I am thrilled with it!! I love the flow of the green.

Chica has made a lot of progress with letting me pet her and have my feet on/around her while she's gnawing on a chewy.

So that's where I'm at. Feeling rough physically, but emotionally I've come a long way. I'm quite content with my life as it is - puppies, fibre endeavours, musical learning, friends galore. I'm still getting used to not having Lee to reach out to, I don't feel like it's the yawning void that it was. I have a lot going on for myself, and I let myself forget about that. Thank you all for reminding me and keeping me from losing sight of that.

To my friends. Sláinte!!

In With the New

So I've finished up a couple of large projects ... what's a girl to do? Start new ones!!!

Here are pics of the mittens that I knit for Amanda -
the blue is Classic Wool & the green is my KoolAid dyed Philosophers Wool. I know, but Amanda loved the lime green so much (me too!!!) & she swears that it's not itchy. "You just think that it's itchy because you're used to working with alpaca and stuff." Okay, I admit that I've been spoiled but seriously - even compared to the CW it's picky. But I give the people what they want!!

After knitting scarves for some of the deserving people in my life I got a bit selfish and knit a cowl from a Trendsetter scarf skein (Thanks Michelle!!!). I added in some Hanah Silk that Amanda had bought for me at Julie's tent sale & some Malabrigo Silky Merino - they worked in perfectly and made for a generous cowl; I was obviously in some sort of blue mood today. Ignore the lack of makeup - it was an at home day & I have an eye infection and I'm afraid that make up will only make it worse. I'm just glad that I have antibiotic drops and that blinking no longer gives me a headache.

I'm on the 2nd sock for Elise ... Top Secret.

The swatches are for a design modification that I'm working on for Windy Valley Muskox.
The yarn is their Majestic Blend and let me tell you - it's totally majestic - I'd swear that there is more qiviut in it than there is!! I did three swatches to make sure which gauge I loved the most and I'm going with the largest one - it's airy without making the fabric lacy. (The green is a light sage in RL)

Thank you all for your support and encouragement through my cancer treatments - it really does make a difference, more than you know. I didn't know nearly as much as I know now about breast cancer, chemo therapy and the side effects and I do hope that even if you never have to draw on the knowledge that it helps someone if they need it.

Still with the Old & In with the New

It was such a wonderful day - the weather was perfect for a drive, Joan was lovely company - we got well caught up on the dish, Holly had the hands that I remembered and Julie had even more wonderful yarn & books than I remembered.

Holly was my massage therapist while we lived in Milton - she treated me for upwards of 10 years & did the labour & delivery massage for Amanda's birth. When she knew that Joan & I were pretty much driving by she invited me by & after 5 years away it was like no time had passed at all. I didn't realize how much I missed her treatments & listening ear so much until I saw her again. She is awesome & beautiful ... and while she is wishing for the best for me I wish her the best as well.

I picked up
some Kauni for a Beverly Cardigan & Mille Colori Big for a Ginormous Cabled Cowl for Julie. Joan & I wandered & poked around for a couple of hours and though I had no special thing in mind except exploring all of the new & excellent fall offerings, I came away with a Zauberball lace weight from Skacel, probably for a Lacy Baktus or Revontuli, a lovely glass shawl pin from Moving Mud and a linen stitch scarf pattern from Churchmouse Classics.

No fear - still deep into China Clouds!! I finished the LF last night.

How many ends do candles have? I think I'm burning a star-shaped candle here!!! All the better to keep from thinking about the follow up appt on Thursday - I tend to be an shining optimist during the day with a powerful & deeply dark imagination at night. Maybe I should try flipping my sleep routine ... though that would suck for entertaining Amanda. Good news though - I don't have detectable bone or lung cancer!! SCORE!!
