Day 3 - 2nd time

PICC line flushed, Neulasta shot given. I feel pretty good, just a bit of an unsettled stomach & a bit dizzyish. Not bad all things considered - knock on wood it continues.

Well - you called it, I'm a red head!! I think that I might need a new name for when I'm sporting such awesome hair colour!! Maybe this:

Áine (AWN-ye) From the Old Irish áine, meaning 'brilliance, wit, splendor, glory, radiance'. Connected with fruitfulness and prosperity. Shelly picked out a different blonde, it's a warmer, red-toned blonde that I like. I'm still loving the original blonde even if it makes me look a bit paler. I think that it didn't photograph as well as it really looks on me!! I'll go fetch one of these in a couple of weeks when Kerwyn gets paid again.





I finished Shedir le Lime.













Smeegle me just wasn't working so I'm gone with the Ilia me. Amanda agrees that it's an improvement!! I don't quite have her lips and I have more of an oval head, but I'm rolling with the comparison!






I've got several projects that I want to start on ... I'm seriously in a dither trying to decide!!!

Days 1 & 2 Again

I measure my time now by days - * Day 1 being the day of chemo treatment, after day 7 it's the good week then the great week. Repeat from* 4 more times.

I came home from treatment yesterday with a fierce & debilitating headache. I spent yesterday, last night & most of today in bed sleeping & napping to let the Tylenol work. I'm much better now & knock on wood that'll be the worst of it this time round.
The Lorazepam is definitely helping my sleep patterns & the Prilosec has totally got the heartburn under control. God bless pharmaceuticals!!!


I'm ready to lose my Smeegle look and am going to fetch a wig (My Precious!!!) tomorrow.


The popular vote is for the Long & Luscious Red but I'm not entirely certain that I won't just got with the Blonde Bombshell first. Shelly will be going with me & will be the final opinion - I must advise you that she's a blonde!! LOL Whichever one I don't get first I will get in a couple of weeks.

I think that I'll finish Shedir le Lime tonight - the nurses were very impressed with Shedir le Violet yesterday!!

Adventures in Dyeing - Results

I dyed 6 skeins of Shelridge Farm's Ultra fingering weight yarn. My plan was to put a pink in each one as a part of my personal story for my next Sweet Spot strip. I had no doubt that Buffy's yarn would have a Sweet Spot and my sister beat me to the punch! She was fascinated with the technique and loved Buffy's yarn so off she went. I'll start on mine probably later in the week - by the time I do my next treatment tomorrow, finish Shedir le Lime & Shedir le Avocado, finish my current SIP, put in more time on China Clouds ... LOL!!









The Koigu Kersti that I over dyed came out beautifully - I can't wait to see how it knits up!! I am going to knit up an On The Easy Side from Knit One Below for me!!

Oh - Buffy also gifted me with some of her lace yarn that had breaks in it so are short skeins. I'm going to weigh them (Thank you my Friend!!!) and work out the yardage and see how much I can do with it. When I'm done I might dye the finished project or just leave it au naturel!

I am really hoping - fingers & toes crossed - that this round of chemo will not affect me any worse than the last one ... I have so much yarn that I want to make into stuff!!! I got a Rx for some sleeping pills (Ah my Lories, how I have missed you!!!) and a kick ass acid antacid which should make the next week(s) easier.

Les Shedirs

So Shedir le vert is a bit stalled - I'm 12 rnds short of finishing but Laurel was discontinued like 5 years ago. I found a ball on Ravelry and it should be on its way to me now so I hope to finish it next week.

There was nothing for it but to cast on for Shedir le violet. I had a ball in my stash so I just had to pick up another - the colours are a bit off but putting on in the ribbing solves that nicely. I'll be doing the same for Shedir le lime because the dyelots are off.

I think that I might be Shedir'd out by that time but we'll see - I really love this hat!!!

Perhaps a couple of the slouchy berets that are so popular are in order - they'll look good with whatever hair I end up wearing!

Just in Time

My friend Holly sent me a lovely chemo cap last Friday. It arrived in a tiny little box. I got all excited when I saw that it was from Holly & Amanda said, "I guess good things do come in small packages"! The yarn was the same as a favorite sweater that her mother had made for her - it's like extra love!!

As it happens it has arrived just in time. Day 14 - exfoliation has commenced. Remember when I had said that I was kind of hoping for a whole naked mole rat thing but the doctors were quite certain that it would only be my head? Well, looks like I'm a bit of an anomaly & am going to save some money on shaving cream after all! It's both disturbing & fascinating ... you know how when you pull hair out by the root there's an actual root? Not so much with chemical interference.
I don't know how rapidly this will go, I'm resisting the urge to constantly comb my hair or put on a freak show by grabbing handfuls at a time.

I started on another Shedir. Seriously, this is my most favourite cap!!! This one is green - a nice avocado green Calmer that I was unable to capture properly or manipulate enough to be accurate.

Day 5 - Quickie

Same old, functionally oogie - Kyle needed picking up from work today so I swung by the Mighty Mart of Wal for some grocery. Kerwyn had to go to work for an emergency so I was on back-up. Saw some friends - they're all looking great!!!, the Anniversary sale had them hopping so it wasn't too good for catching up.
Made some beef soup that I'll finish off tomorrow for lunch with - if I get out of bed on time - some fresh bread!

I was knitting on my Zen Yarn Garden cashmere Lina yesterday & today. When it was done I compared it to my Shedir - which is a most perfect chemo cap - and it's a bit narrower so it doesn't fit quite as well. I've ripped it back to the shaping and will add the pattern repeat that I took out. D'oh!!! I don't think that I'll get to finish it again tonight, but tomorrow will be waiting.
