Frolicked

Helen and I arrived early to volunteer so it was a crazy early morning for me, leaving from Angus.
It was totally worth it!! I caught up with a lot of friends that I haven't seen in ever, helped raise money for the DKC Relay for Life team (totally excited to be on the team again/still and healthy enough to be able to participate), and did a wee bit of shopping.

The Woodlot. I bought a set of wood jewellery from them last year and was very impressed with the quality and customer service so it was a must-see again this year.

Salted Maple bracelet and earrings, cherry bracelet and a notebook.

From eweknit I bought a new project bag and a skein of a gorgeous green lace weight merino/silk yarn.

Raventwist was another new vendor from whom I bought a lovely brooch, stitch markers that will be turned into earrings and a cute little handmade Rune book necklace. The artist hand-bound the book and hand wrote the Runes and interpretations. I couldn't resist.

I also won some yarn from Sweet Georgia in the raffle!! I shared a skein of cashluxe with Helen and this is the other cashluxe fine skein and silk mist skein.

I kept going back to look at the Devin Wristlet in Pumpkin Spice at The Needle Emporium's booth. Yes, it came home with me. Along with the little Jemma Pouch, a gift from Helen.

And I remembered the Soak!!!

All in all a very good day.

Frolicking

It's that time of year again - the DKC Frolic!!!

I have taken the year off of teaching; I want to take in the Market at my leisure, hook up with friends - both virtual and IRL - and just be this year.

Helen & I are going to be there early - will you be there?

Finally!!!

It took over 5 months (yes, that's a horrible new record for me) but there were things - messing up cables at the beginning, circular needles, not sure if the fuzziness of the alpaca was right for the pattern (my issue - Beth loved it from the get-go), seasonal insanity at work and issues with the sleeve length and wrist size that hampered smooth and expeditious progress. Good things come to those who wait though and Beth has a cozy sweater perfect for the cold days that still plague Ontario!!

Lee has set up a fish tank at his.

Jake loves it and helped to pick out a fish for me (I couldn't make the fishing trip); Lenny (a red-tailed shark) is hiding in there somewhere!




I love my Kobo Glo and finally bought some "accessories" for it.I'm actually returning the hardcover Clockwork Orange; it doesn't stay closed with the Glo is inside.


Hopefully Spring is truly on the way after this last blast from Old Man Winter. There was ice on all the surfaces but fortunately the roads were salted and not a Yes, I *could* go out and walk/run in the winter but I don't do cold.

I can't wait to be able to get out and get fit for the baseball season!
 

Seanair: The Conclusion

After re-starts, delays and near-finishes, Beth's Seanair is blocking!!
I am we'll pleased with the finished sweater - hopefully Beth is as happy.

I had a feeling ...

I'm well down the 2nd sleeve on Seanair and the length of the first sleeve and the narrowness (?) of the wrist has been niggling at the back of my brain, and not in a good way.
So I finally texted Julie and asked for a few measurements from Beth and sure enough my finely-honed Knitters Intuition (closely attuned to my Mothers Intuition and Cashiers Intuition) was spot on. (Seriously, does this not look slightly out of proportion?)


Fortunately the sleeves are knit downwards so I'll just take them back like 8" (!!!) and do the cuff and it should be golden. The good news is that this means I'm practically done the 2nd sleeve!!!
